Press, Public Opinion and Propaganda is a research group whose objective is the analysis of the relations between the press and social, political and economic movements from the 19th century to the present day, as well as the analysis of the role of propaganda in these dynamics.
Each spring the group organizes a meeting open to the entire international academic community that researches topics related to the press, public opinion and propaganda.
Throughout each academic year, the group organizes several workshops, in a single session, in which it deepens on specific issues, problems or current issues related to our lines of research.
Press and Public Opinion Studies will be a scientific journal that will publish academic works dedicated to the analysis of the press and its relationship with public opinion. Research on the social and political dynamics linked to this phenomenon is particularly welcome.
Although the publication will have an eminently historical vocation, it will be open to all researchers of any academic discipline who wish to publish their contributions in this field of knowledge.
Our friends from PILAR (Presse, Imprimés, Lecture dans l’Aire Romane) are organizing an International Congress entitled “The historian and the press” in homage to Professor José Miguel Delgado Idarreta. The meeting will be held on 18 and 19 October 2019 at the Centro Cultural Ibercaja La Rioja. The congress will be articulated around the following thematic lines:
– The press as a source.
– The press historian: problems, issues and methodology.
– The written story: uses, contents and protagonists.
– Broadcasters, receivers, media and communication media.
– Actors-authors and readers.
– The language of the press and the language in the press: literature, rhetoric and history.
